Land-based black marlin record caught at Jervis Bay

SOUTH Coast-based Kyle Lack has caught an unofficial land-based black marlin world record of 2565mm short length and weighing 176kg.

On February 18th, 2023, Kyle hooked a black marlin that was nearly three times his own body weight. After an hour of watching it soar through the air and do cartwheels, he was sure something would go wrong. However, luck was on his side that day and when they managed to gaff the fish, everything moved in slow motion until reality set in…

Life achievements look different to everyone but for Kyle, who has been fishing these ledges for nearly 16 years, it was landing this 100kg+ marlin from the stones!
