SEASON 7 of Australia’s richest fishing competition, Million Dollar Fish, has ended, with a record number of anglers catching a lucrative barramundi worth $10,000.
The competition, underwritten by SportsBet, sees a number of tagged fish released across the Northern Territory’s iconic fishing destinations – Darwin, Katherine, Kakadu, Arnhem Land and the Tiwi Islands. This season an incredible 16 were caught, netting anglers $160,000. More than $700,000 has now been paid out across the seven seasons of the competition.
Season 7 ended on 31 March 2022 but, in great news for fishing fans, eight fish carrying tags worth a whopping million bucks remain active year-round. Anyone who registered for Season 7 (registrations closed on 31 March 2022) is eligible to claim the prize money if they catch one of the big ones. If you didn’t register, you will need to wait for Season 8 registrations to open later this year. Registration is free.
To help fishos on their way, organisers have revealed the winning tag numbers of Australia’s “Most Wanted” fish, those worth $1 million. Once one is caught, the others become invalid:

Million Dollar Fish is delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC).
