FROM now until 31 December 2022, the registered angler who catches the longest $10,000 tagged barra in Top End waterways will be rewarded with thousands of extra dollars. They will receive $1,000 per centimetre of their catch, as measured by organisers.
For example, if the biggest $10,000 fish caught in December is 55cm, the lucky fisho wins a whopping $55,000. Note: the campaign excludes the nine fish carrying tags worth $1 million.
So far, Season 8 of Million Dollar Fish has been the competition’s biggest season ever, with 16 prize-tagged fish caught and $170,000 in prize money claimed, and still 84 $10,000 barra swimming around. Recent winning catches have been 55cm, 59cm, 62cm and 76cm in size, suggesting the largest barra is still to be caught – and biggest payout to come.
The “Size Matters” campaign runs till end of December and the winner will be announced in January 2023.
