IF you’re planning a fishing trip along the mighty Murray River you might want to check out a cool new phone app released by Discover Murray River.
The free Murray River iPhone App features information on 36 main towns along the river and a 1400 kilometre driving experience through South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
“The Murray River App is like a handheld visitor centre taking you along our great river from Man from Snowy River country and Kosciusko National Park near Corryong, Victoria and New South Wales, to Storm Boy’s Coorong estuaries near Goolwa and the Murray Mouth in South Australia.” says Discover Murray River’s Director, Shane Strudwick.
“Once visitors arrive in any of the Murray River towns featured on the app, they’ll be able to choose from accommodation, houseboats, river cruises, restaurants, attractions, clubs and pubs, golf, wineries, events and more.”
“With dynamic maps, the comprehensive town facilities display picnic spots, playgrounds, BBQ’s, boat ramps and more, showing visitors the best of the each communities’ environment. It’s perfect for visitors who are new to the region and love to explore” Mr Strudwick said.
Some of the App’s special features and information include:
• Locations of all visitor information centres, RV dump points and public toilets
• Lock and Weir information and contact phone numbers
• Fruit Fly information and Weather
• Dynamic and Live River data links
• “Near Me” recognises your location and shows nearby clubs and dump points.
• Murray River history and facts
An Android version of the app is expected to be out in late October.
