POPULAR Port Macquarie based estuary lure fishing charter business, Castaway Estuary Fishing Charters, recently changed hands.

New owner and Fishing World contributor, Patrick Linehan, has spent the last year-or-so working on the acquisition of the Castaway Estuary Fishing Charters business, Castaway boat and the NSW Charter Fishing Boat licence.

Patrick is a Port Macquarie local and grew up fishing the Hastings River and surrounds. After finishing school and completing studies at university in Newcastle, Patrick pursued a career in the recreational fishing industry.

Following a move to Sydney in 2015, Patrick worked for Australia’s leading fishing magazine and media brand, Fishing World. More recently, Patrick works for some of the world’s leading fishing and marine brands providing consultation on the design, development and marketing of recreational fishing tackle, boats and related outdoors accessories.

Patrick has honed his fishing skills alongside some of Australia’s best anglers and guides. Now back in Port Macquarie – where his fishing journey began – Patrick says he is keen to share his knowledge and passion for lure fishing.

“I will still offer the same specialised, calm-water lure fishing experience that Castaway is known and loved for, but will also cater for keen anglers who want to target mulloway and trophy size flathead in the Hastings, Camden Haven, Manning and Macleay rivers,” Patrick said.

Castaway Estuary Fishing Charters is currently taking bookings, with spots filling up fast.
