Offshore fishing springs into action

SPRINGTIME fishing has started with a bang according to charter operator Scotty Lyons of Southern Sydney Fishing Tours.

Lyons reports a big week offshore last week for snapper with one day mid-week producing 18 good reds and four morwong from a reef outside of Botany Bay.

Flathead are apparently also coming on the bite with Lyons’s clients scoring some nice lizards in closer to shore. Lyons reported his crew scored a good catch of trevally in Botany Bay last Saturday although overall the fishing was a little slow.

Reasonable catches of flathead were also reported by another boat targeting flathead on soft plastics in Yarra Bay.
