All NEW for 2011 is the High-Speed Salina II, distinguished from the original Salina II reels by its alternative, round, jig-styled aluminium handle knob. The SASII reels are set at 6.2:1 retrieve – great for any high speed applications!
The main gear of the Salina II is helical cut from high density material – 50% stronger than standard gearing, and combines with 8 stainless steel ball bearings with instant anti-reverse and a machine cut brass pinion gear to produce a drive train that is smooth, efficient, and ideal for tough fishing conditions and punishing fishing methods.
An oversized screw-in aluminium handle provides a non-slip grasp on the drive of the reel ensuring no pressure is lost during those gut wrenching battles; match this design to the machine cut alloy round handle knob and you have a purchase point that is unbeatable when brute force is the only way in!
Salina II reels have a DFD: Dual Force Drag system incorporating oiled felt washers; a multi-disk drag in the front of the spool works in conjunction with a secondary drag at the back of the spool to maximise high drag pressures and give a smooth release of line. Other features are an oversized bail arm, elliptical oscillation for improved line lay, Okuma’s Rotor Equalizing System, eight corrosion resistant stainless bearings, a quick set anti-reverse roller bearing and Okuma’s “Hydro Bloc” seal which protects the drag system from moisture. The frame, side plate and rotor are rigid machine cut diecast aluminium and the spool is vented aluminium designed to be used under high pressure situations.
Available in three popular sizes: 5000, 10000 & 16000
