Overseas rec fishing groups back anti lock-out stance

THE problems associated with Australia’s proposed marine parks network are the focus of efforts currently underway between local peak rec fishing representative body the Australian Recreational Fishing foundation (ARFF) and overseas rec fishing organisations.

A spokesman for the ARFF and rec fishing advocacy body Keep Australia Fishing told Fisho the Australian-based organisations are currently working closely with overseas rec fishing groups such as The Billfish Foundation, the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA), American Sportfishing Association (ASA) and other organisations to get the message out about the problems associated with the proposed Commonwealth marine parks.

The ARFF spokesman said “it was great to see prestigious organisations like TBF getting involved in these important campaigns.”
