Pejar powers up

PEJAR Dam near Goulburn in southern NSW has been opened to electric powered craft.

Ongoing community effort has resulted in the Goulburn Mulwaree Council allowing anglers to use electric motors on watercraft on Pejar.

The waterway, not too long ago devasted by drought, has started to return to its former glory thanks to ongoing rains and trout restockings.

The green light for electrics on Pejar has resulted from numerous submissions lodged by anglers and angling organisations, including the NSW CFA and the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW.

A total of 15 submissions from industry and government were also received by the Council – all broadly supportive of the idea – as well as a petition of 377 signatures organised by the local Tackle World store.

A review of fishing regulations on nearby Sooley Dam is also expected in the near future.
