OKUMA’S Metaloid overhead reel is this week’s Fishing World Product of the Week.
This small sized, lightweight lever drag reel has a massive yet smooth drag and also features an extremely comfortable and secure handle. Okuma Metaloid reels feature a single-piece machined frame and side plate structure made out of aluminum. It also has four stainless steel ball bearings and a drag system constructed out of carbonite capable of 10.9 – 15.5kg max drag pressure, depending on the reel’s size.
The ergonomic rubberised handle is very comfortable and is designed in a way that will enable the angler to crank in bigger fish. There is an adjustable clicker planted on the side plate as well. Okuma Metaloid (Single-Speed Only) reels are available in black and three sizes – M-5NS, M-5S and M-12S. All models have a gear ratio of 6.4:1.
