Prokop steps down from Recfishwest

THE CEO of WA peak rec fishing body Recfishwest, Frank Prokop, is stepping down from his position in January 2012.

“Frank’s presence and influence over the recreational fishing community will be sorely missed,” said Recfishwest Chairman, Andrew Matthews.

“Frank is recognised as one of the best recreational fishing managers in the world. He has been instrumental in the realisation of fish stocking projects such as black bream in the Swan River and barramundi stocking in Lake Kununurra, the up-and-coming implementation of artificial reef deployment in the South-West, and has been pivotal in building Recfishwest into a professional peak representative body.”

Prokop has published a number of popular fishing journals such as Freshwater Fishing Australia and written books such as The Australian Fish Guide. He made his mark at national level with two terms as National President of Recfishwest Australia and as a Board member of the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation.

Ongoing health concerns have led to Prokop’s decision to step down from his position as CEO at Recfishwest. The final day of his 14-year term will be the 6th of January 2012.

“From the board and staff of Recfishwest, we wish Frank all the best in his future endeavours, and we believe that Frank leaves an admirable legacy for Recfishwest and recreational fishing,” Matthews concluded.
