NEWLY crowned 2011 MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner relaxed in the lead up to yesterday’s Phillip Island round by going trout fishing with a few mates.
The downtime no doubt relaxed keen fisho Stoner who easily took out yesterday’s MotoGP after taking a commanding lead from the starting flag.
In the lead up to the race Stoner’s main challenger for the world title, Jorge Lorenzo, crashed out in qualifying and took no part in the race. Lorenzo’s team mate American Ben Spies also crashed in qualifying, breaking a rib during the 260kmh tumble.
Prior to race qualifying Spies and fellow MotoGP rider and seasoned fisho Colin Edwards enjoyed a spot of trout fishing with Stoner at the Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm where they landed some solid rainbow trout. The trio also went on to sit down and eat their catches.
