PIONEERING Aussie sport fisherman and former longtime Fisho columnist Rod “Harro” Harrison has written a novel titled Saurian. According to Harro, the book took 10 years to complete and is set to be officially launched at the Lure Fly & Outdoors Expo this weekend.
Commenting on the writing of his first novel Harro said “Saurian fermented in my mind for at least a decade, beginning life as a 2000 word short story about a rogue croc.”
“Then after writing about outdoor pursuits over years since, learning the craft so to speak, the notion to stretch my way with words to believable, and readably exciting fiction became irresistible. Gradually the major plot lines formed and the ‘minor’ matter of weaving them together dragged on and on.
The finished product took time enough to write, re-write and polish to convince me I’ll never (be) a Wilbur Smith or Lee Child. Still, as someone quitting school at 14, I’m happy with the result. I think I’ve nailed it but that will be up to readers.”
