OVER the past few months I’ve had the opportunity to field test the new range of Boom Bait soft plastics released by Samaki.
The model that has proven ideally suited to fishing my local estuaries has been the Bomb Shad. This paddle tail soft plastic is constructed from 10X strong super stretch material and comes in 3, 4 and 5 inch sizes. First trip out testing the Bomb Shad I landed a heap of dusky flathead, bream, tailor and flounder, then on the second trip I landed my PB Lake Macquarie jewfish on the 4-inch Nuked Chook colour.
The Bomb Shad comes in a range of 10 vibrant fish catching colours and features a unique easy rigging system which helps to ensure correct hook alignment whether fishing these soft baits on a traditional weighted jig head or weedless.
While these lures are scent impregnated I also like the addition of the ribbed sections at the head and tail of the soft plastic to hold any extra scent or attractant that you may prefer to use. The seductive paddle tail action allows the use of a wide range of retrieve styles from a super slow roll when chasing barra or Murray cod through to the aggressive jigging action required at times to get a reaction bite from a big dusky flathead.
The Bomb Shad from Samaki has become an integral part of my estuary lure arsenal because it’s a 10X super tough paddle tail soft plastic that allows me to fish locations where normal soft plastics are usually decimated such as around Lake Macquarie’s bait schools where the chopper tailor are regularly in attendance. I also really like being able to weedless rig the Bomb Shad to fish snaggy or reefy areas where treble armed lures such as vibes tend to hang up. If you’re after a quality 10X tough paddle tail soft bait I’d suggest you check out the Bomb Shad from Samaki.
