THE Sofala Carp Blitz will be held this Saturday the 19th and Sunday 20th of November. The carp blitz is organised by the Sofala Branch of the Central Acclimatisation Society (CAS) and is a fantastic way of removing the feral pest while having some fun. Anglers can register on the river from 7.30am on Saturday or 7 am Sunday with weigh-in until 5 pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday or early registration at the Royal Hotel on Friday 18th. Fishing starts at 7.30 am on Saturday & finishes at 2.30 pm Sunday. Fish must be at weigh in before 3pm Sunday.

Registration is just over the bridge at Sofala on the left, just follow the signs, and is via a gold coin donation which will be used to purchase native fish to restock the Turon River catchment

Fishing is permitted anywhere in the Turon River from the headwaters to down below Hill End or in the Crudine River. NSW freshwater fishing rules apply. Only carp and redfin will be weighed. Murray Cod season is closed until December 1.

Good baits include Hawkesbury prawns, worms, corn, bread, dough, and shrimp. Soft plastic lures like Berkley Gulp 2 inch grubs in watermelon & pumpkinseed colours work well when carp are actively feeding.
