Squidgie Southern Bream Series Rd 4 – St Georges Basin

AS is getting to be the norm for the 2011 Squidgie Southern Bream Series, ordinary weather conditions greeted anglers on the St Georges Basin for Round 4 on Sunday April 17.

101 teams (88 boating teams and 13 kayaks) faced the conditions and the bream were definitely out to play with 88 out of the 101 teams weighing in bream, with 64 teams weighing a full bag limit.

A massive effort by Sailing Scene/Lox Rods angler Stewart Dunn saw him take out the Kayak division with an impressive 2.905kg 3/3 bag. Stewart also weighed the heaviest bream of the 101 team field to secure him the $250 Damiki Big Bream Prize Pack. Second place in the kayak division went to first time tournament angler Shane Hollands with a spectacular 2.855kg 3/3 bag. Samaki’s Jason Meech rounded out the podium with a very respectable 2.020kg 3/3 bag.

Hi-Tec Oils team of Michael Laguzza and Anthony Tedesco smashed the field with an amazing 4.325kg 5/5 bag to claim their first SSBS win in the Boating section, securing themselves a healthy $3500 in cash. Consistent podium finisher’s Nick Reay and Lucas Pratt from team Atomic Bassday took out second place with a very nice 3.845kg 5/5 bag. Third place was secured by team Complete Angler Batemans Bay/Squidgie Pro Range (Craig Johnson/Jason Mayberry) with 3.730kg 5/5 bag.

Next round sees the series head to Sydney Harbour on Sunday May 15.
