Squidgie Southern Bream Series round one – Georges River wrap up

BEAUTIFUL, hot weather greeted the massive 127 teams as they arrived at Sans Souci, just south of Sydney, for round one of the 2012 Squidgie Southern Bream Series. The nice weather didn’t hang around for long though and teams battled it out in windy conditions for most of the day.

A massive 41 teams entered the kayak section (our highest number to date) for the Georges River event. The day belonged to lureandfly.com team member Chris Seeto with a very healthy 3/3 1.935kg bag, which secured him the winners cheque, Hobie prize pack, Shimano rod and reel and the all important qualification into this year’s kayak ABT grand final.

Second place went to Jason Reid with a nice 3/3 1.910kg bag. Jason also took out the Basin Lure and Fly Anglers Big Bream for kayaks with a respectable 0.86kg specimen. Rounding out the podium was Samaki’s Jason Meech with another nice 3/3 1.73kg bag.

A whopping 86 teams took part in the two man boating section. First place was secured by Windsor Bit and Tickle’s team of Aaron Horne and Peter Jarvis with their bag of 5/5 3.390kg, landing them the $3360 winners cheque, 2 Mako Eyewear gift packs and ABT grand final qualification. Second place on the day went to Team Squidgy’s Chris Cleaver and Joel Tegart with a 5/5 3.045kg bag. In third place was team Bream Attack’s Geoff and Michael Borg with another 5/5 bag weighing 2.995kg.
