ST Georges Basin on the NSW South Coast continues to produce the goods for rec fishos, as a report we received this week from Fisho reader Luke Tubridy demonstrated.
Here’s what Luke wrote to Fisho:
My brother in law (Dave) and father in law (Pete) are out from Canada and both are keen anglers. I had taken my father in law to St Georges basin on a couple of previous trips out here but this was Dave’s first fishing expedition in Australian waters.
We started the day fishing for bream on top water lures. We had landed about four decent bream before Dave finally hooked into his first fish Down Under. His reel started screaming and first though was this was a monster bream until we got our first look at it. After three big runs we got it to the boat and realised his first fish in Australia was a trophy estuary perch at 47.5cm.
As neither of my fishing partners had any knowledge of the EP’s existence it took some quick internet searches before they began to realise how special this fish was. As always, the fish was released to fight another day. While catching big fish is every angler’s goal there is always something special in taking likeminded anglers out and showing them a different style of fishing and seeing them land a trophy fish.
We can’t agree with you more, Luke. Well done and thanks for sharing with Fisho readers!
