Sydney woman lands monster bluefin

THE Sydney Game Fishing Club has announced that the club’s president, Karen Wright, this week landed one of the largest southern bluefin tuna ever captured on rod and reel by a female angler.

The huge bluefin which weighed in at 143.7kg was caught on 15kg tackle and was hooked late in the afternoon from game boat Tantrum, just inside the famous Heatons Hill. After taking a trolled Tantrum Bullet lure, the fight time lasted just 30 minutes.

This fish is now a pending world, Australian and NSW record, and of course SGFC record.

Wright’s catch caps off a memorable week of tuna fishing for Sydney anglers – see related story HERE.
