IN a perfect example of how nature overcomes adversity, Fisho received this photo from keen junior fisho Sean Vazquez highlighting his catch of what appears to be a healthy large dusky flathead. If you take a closer look you’ll actually notice the unfortunate flattie has no tail…
Sean told Fisho, “I caught this 68cm flathead off the jetty at Port Stephens (NSW) and when I brought it up it had no tail! Must have had a run in with something nasty.”
Sean says he caught the flattie on a 100mm Squidgy soft plastic in black & white using a 1-3kg Sahara rod and Sienna 2000 reel and eight pound braid.
“Although it had no tail it still put up a great fight. It was only out of the water for a short time and swam away nicely when released. Nice way to end the day! Loving the school holidays.”
Great stuff Sean, thanks for the photo!
Have any other readers made an unusual catch like this? We’d love to hear from you.
