1 Name and birthplace?
Mark Fisher, Born in Junee NSW.
2 When did you first start fishing?
Began fishing at Nowra, I was about 13.
3 When did you start writing for Fisho?
About 6-7+ years ago.
4 What’s your favourite form of fishing?
Targeting SA snapper with soft plastics.
Snapper fishing with soft plastics is a favourite technique.
5 What do you enjoy about writing for a fishing magazine?
I love telling people what I’m passionate about (mainly rod building but also fishing).
6 Who do you most admire in the fishing media and why?
I love listening to Starlo and Bushy talking soft plastics and their techniques.
7 What do you reckon is the best or most satisfying article you’ve written for Fisho?
I did one some time back on a rod I built for a mate of mine who was retiring from the Police after 32 years. The rod was a true custom build using a police theme with inlayed EVA, custom “eagles” wrap and guide wraps. My mate never got to fish with it – he died of bone cancer in the jaw which was diagnosed shortly after I gave him the rod.

8 What camera gear do you use?
I’ve only got a Fuji FinepixS3500 I’ve had for years – it gets me through.
9 What advice can you give anyone wanting to get into the fishing media?
I wanted to write one article about a spiral guide placement I was using on a few of my rods. I wanted to let people know how good these actually were because you just didn’t see them around. I knew Jim through his brother in law, Gary Bridge, who was the best man at my wedding. It sort of developed from there, as did my rod building.
10 What’s your favourite fishing destination?
I haven’t fished anywhere near the destinations most Fisho writers have but one day want to try the Nomad Charters off the Barrier Reef. My favourite area to fish has always been around Jervis Bay and now, definitely in the gulf of South Australia (Arno Bay).
