TALBINGO Dam, located in the Snowy region, recently received a major boost with the announcement of $1.35m in funding to improve recreational facilities.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the funding – $850,000 from the NSW Government and $500,000 from the Commonwealth-owned Snowy Hydro Limited – would be used to improve boating facilities, foreshore access, car parking and swimming access.
The funding announcement comes as the Talbingo region begins to recover from the devastating bushfires earlier in the year.
It is expected work on the improved facilities will be completed before the summer of 2020-21.
Talbingo is highly regarded as a premier trout fishery, with downrigging a favoured technique in the dam’s clear, cold and deep waters.
The dam is unique in that it offers anglers the opportunity for catch & release sportfishing for the enigmatic trout cod.
