Top bream fisho scores $2000 cash

It’s turning out to be a year to remember for tournament bream fisherman Kris Hickson.

Fishing in the highly competitive ABT Daiwa BREAM Series, Hickson has scored two wins, had another four Top Ten finishes and has collected $2,000 in Mercury Marine “Bonus Bucks”.

“Let me tell you, that’s better than usual. I’m not doing anything different – the fish gods must be smiling on me,” said Hickson, who’s been competing at this level for the past seven years and is currently sitting in second spot in the National BREAM rankings, just 18 points off the competition lead with two rounds to go.

Hickson has been cashing in thanks to Mercury Marine’s “Bonus Bucks” which sees the top place getter – using either a Mercury or Mariner outboard – receive $250. If the same winner has a MotorGuide electric motor the prize doubles to $500.

Mercury Marine has been offering “Bonus Bucks” in Australia’s major fishing competitions for three years and has given away thousands of dollars. In this year’s ABT Daiwa BREAM Series Mercury Marine’s giveaway total has already hit $4,750 with another $1,000 on offer across the final two events: Glenelg and the Gold Coast.
