SYDNEY game fisherman Paul Barning was tragically lost at sea while taking part in last weekend’s NSWGFA Interclub Tournament.
Barning was a highly experienced game fisherman and current secretary, past president, and life member of Port Hacking Game Fishing Club.
In a letter sent to members, NSWGFA president Steve Lamond paid tribute to Barning.
“He was tragically lost at sea in the most unlikely of circumstances whilst fishing on his boat Dark Horse off Port Stephens on Sunday,” said Lamond.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Leonie, his son Sam and daughters Eleanor and Brigette in this trying time.
“We also have the crew and their families in our thoughts and prayers. To this participants of the tournament that assisted in the search efforts, we thank you” he said.
THE NSWGF has set up a Gofundme campaign to raise funds to assist the family through this tragic time.
