Warrnambool’s Lady Bay boat ramp was voted by boaters as the worst in the state…but is not set for a $420,000 upgrade.

VICTORIAN fishers recently had a big win, with the state’s worst boat ramp, Warrnambool’s Lady Bay (as voted by boaters in the RACV Marine ‘Rate your Ramp’ survey) set to receive $420,000 in funding to upgrade the boat launching facility, the breakwater and future options of a spur breakwater.

According to an article on the VRFish Facebook page, the State Government and Warrnambool City Council are committed to working closely on this project to get the ball rolling on the planning and design process to upgrade the facilities, which will take around 9-12 months.

Unlike other planning processes that have gone around in circles for years going nowhere and frustrating fishos, this planning process will include all designs and approvals to get the project ‘shovel ready’ for the build stage. VRFish say they won’t be accepting anything less.

South west fishers need a purpose-built safe harbour and VRFish say they are glad that the efforts of many people have all contributed to getting this critical boating project back on track.
