VICTORIAN Premier Daniel Andrews announced an easing of COVID-19 restrictions on Monday with up to 10 people now being able to participate in outdoor activities, with physical distancing. Fishers are required to keep 1.5 metres between others.
Victorian recreational fishing peak body VRFish welcomed the announcement and said on Facebook “We ask all fishers to be safe, cautious and vigilant when wetting a line.”
Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford has confirmed that boating is also allowed under the new phase of restrictions.
According to VRFish, piers, jetties and boat ramps will also be re-opened in line with the easing of restrictions and says there is no restrictions on travel but overnight stays and camping in national and regional parks is not permitted.
Fishing competitions are still not permitted under the new restrictions.
The new restrictions and a renewed state of emergency will be in place until 11:59pm on Sunday 31 May.
