Wanted: Future rec fishing leaders

KEEN fishos are being invited to become leaders and advocates for recreational fishing by participating in a joint Qld/NSW workshop in November.

The workshop is being funded by the Commonwealth Government and co-sponsored by Sunfish Qld, ANSA Qld and the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW. Participant numbers are strictly limited to around 15.

The Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) has allocated funding for the specific purpose of developing the next generation of recreational fishing leaders in Australia. A national leadership development framework has been developed and will form the basis for workshops in WA/NT, NSW/Qld and Tas/Vic/SA designed to identify and provide targeted leadership development to our future leaders.

The North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre off the Capricorn Coast in Central Queensland will be the venue for the Qld/NSW workshop under this new national framework. The workshop will be a residential workshop spanning four very full days and nights, from Thursday 17 November to Sunday 20 November this year.

Expression of interest forms can be downloaded from the following websites, and need to be lodged before July 31 – www.sunfishqld.com.au or www.rfansw.com.au.

For more information contact workshop Coordinator, Mr Kim Martin in Queensland kisu1917@bigpond.com, or Malcolm Poole in NSW president@rfansw.com.au.
