ONE of the biggest ever petitions was tabled in Western Australia’s Parliament.
Over 18,000 signatures were collected, opposing the state’s proposal to ban fishing for demersal scalefish for nine months of the year.
Shadow Fisheries Minister Colin De Grussa said: “What we don’t support is a shame consultation process by a Fisheries Minister who is clearly out of touch with what Western Australians want.
“RecFish West presented 17 different options in their paper to Government, and Government has chosen to ignore those options without actually telling us why,” said De Grussa.
