Sydney youngster saves plastic bag snapper

FISHO reader Chris Maait sent in these photos of his keen on fishing son, Chris Junior, or “CJ” as he’s best known.

As you can see from the pics taken at Willoughby Bay in Sydney’s Middle Harbour, seven-year-old CJ came to the rescue of a snapper that managed to get trapped inside a discarded plastic frozen bait bag.

This is a great example of why fishos need to responsibly dispose of all their rubbish after a trip.

CJ also caught himself a nice 25cm bream on the day.

“Too many fishers out there leave rubbish behind, I can’t tell you how often I’m picking up rubbish, line, hooks etc left behind. I’ve added another pic I took a while ago at Rozelle Bay,” said Chris (senior) in reference to the pic below.

Chris reports that both fish caught by CJ were successfully released back into the water.

Hopefully that snapper grows into a monster and you catch it again one day CJ!
