THE consultation period for the draft NSW Mulloway Harvest Strategy has been extended again until the 31st of July, 2025.
The last minute extension was prompted by criticism around the consultation period and the department’s failure to communicate its proposed changes to the state’s fishers.
With only 32 hours before the initial 25 July submission deadline, NSW DPI included a provision for culturally diverse anglers to have their say with translations and language assistants. Given the diverse ethnic background of NSW anglers, such a short timeframe excluded a large proportion of stakeholders from the consultation process.
Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party’s Mark Banasiak said: “It’s really frustrating that I’m here once again saying to the department stop paying lip service to culturally and linguistically diverse fisherman and actually start doing proper consultation.”
You now have until 31 July, 2025 to have your say HERE.
