Teams aplenty at SSBS Tuross Round

“WOW, how cold is it?” was the catchcry of anglers fishing the seventh round of the Squidgy Southern Bream Series for 2011.

After days of rain and wind the day of competition in late July was fairly calm (if a little cold) for the 71 teams that took part in the Tuross round.

With 14 brave anglers competing in the kayak division, Samiki’s Jason Meech took out first place with 3/3 1.45kg bag. Jason’s bag also contained the Hobie Fishing Big Bream, a 0.625kg specimen.

Second place went to Team Hobie Fishing/Lox Rods Stewart Dunn with the only other 3/3 bag weighing 0.905kg. Rounding out the top three was Jonathan Chen with a 1/3 0.600kg bag. Special mention goes to Wayne Robinson on his fourth place 1/3 0.295kg.

The boating section saw 57 teams take to the water.

Stray Dogs/Tackleworld Nowra’s team of Johnny Nolan and Andy Parry were victors on the day with a 5/5 2.235kg bag. Johnny also secured the Damiki/Evinrude Big Bream prizes with a 0.890kg bream.
