CY Fishing Charters, located on the remote east coast of Cape York, has upped the ante for 2014 with a new custom built 8m twin hull Offshore Marine Master sportfisher joining its fleet in July.
The new yet to be named vessel will carry 900 litres of fuel and be powered by twin 200hp Suzuki outboards. It will feature a full walk-round cabin, bow casting platform with safety lean rails on both port/starboard sides, side sea-door for accessibility, casting area on the cabin roof with safety lean rails front and sides and has been built with a minimalistic approach, concentrating on usability and functionality.
Currently serviced by a smaller aluminium cat and two fibreglass dories, CY Fishing Charters’ new larger cat will open up a whole lot of options for visitors to this iconic and bountiful fishing area.
From tangling with sailfish on the outer reef, speedy mackerel, and tasty coral trout in previously unfished waters to extended trips of 1-3 days to rivers on the east and west coasts of Cape York targeting the enigmatic barramundi, the new cat allows CY to tow a couple of tenders and use the vessel as a mothership, either camping on board or camping ashore. They will even provide tours to Thursday Island, 50km away from the home base of Albany Island.
