Marine electronics has seen some amazing advancements in recent years and the latest release from Navico is yet another example. Launched at this month’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Sonic Hub gives users the ability to play iPod or MP3 music files, CDs or DVDs via a Lowrance HDS or Simrad set.
Sonic Hub connects via the NMEA network and features an iPod dock, USB drives, and a four-channel integrated amplifier. It also has an AM/FM tuner and CDs or DVDs can be played via the unit’s auxiliary inputs.
The technology utilises a Lowrance HDS or Simrad sounder screen as a display for scrolling through and selecting music tracks, adjusting volume and more – just like a standard stereo.
On the video below Navico’s director of sales and marketing, Damien Weber, and Mike Bold, project manager at Navico Asia Pacific run through a few of the Lowrance Sonic Hub’s features. The new technology will be available in September.
