WA-BASED boat builder Trailcraft is the latest marine company hit for six by the tough economic climate.
Information from the Australian Securities & Investment Commission indicates that WA-based Trailcraft Australia has filed to deregister the company. An ASIC document obtained by Marine Business revealed ASIC had received a “519G Notification of Application to Wind Up Company”. Trailcraft, a long-established Perth-based company owned by Brett Martin, which manufactured a range of quality plate alloy boats, had been struggling in recent years after moves into retail, trucking and caravan manufacture. The company is reportedly in the hands of liquidators. An industry source has said there were two potential buyers interested in taking over the Trailcraft business.
