LAST night on the eve of the Sydney International Boat Show opening, Raymarine held its exclusive world debut launch of its exciting new e7 electronics technology.
Raymarine says its e7 is a feature rich Multi Function Display (MFD) that sets a new standard for ease of use, performance, and connectivity. Complete with a dual core main processor and a third dedicated graphics processor the e7 is designed to offer simple operation and lightning fast performance – via hybrid touchscreen and/or toggle control operation.
The sleek e7 is designed to provide easy networking, with SeaTalk connecting up to six displays, allowing you to see and control your data anywhere you need.
One of the key features of the e7 is its ability to connect users to their commonly used electronic items such as Apple iPods, iPhones, or iPad which use the the e7 display as a remote viewer using the unit’s built-in Wi-Fi and the new Raymarine Viewer app, which can be downloaded free via the iTunes App store.
Via the e7’s video streaming capability users can view charts, sonar, radar and even thermal night vision from anywhere on a boat. Music tracks can be sourced from the helm using Bluetooth to remotely control functions on an mp3 player; connect a player to the vessel’s audio system with a dock or auxiliary cable and then stow it in a safe place. Use the e7’s built-in Bluetooth technology to connect to your player; all functions can be accessed direct from the e7 display or via the new handy remote control.
Raymarine’s new LightHouse User Interface (UI) is designed for ease of use, by intuitively placing frequently used navigation functions at the user’s fingertips. Just swipe the home screen left or right for immediate access to the entire e7 library. LightHouse takes full advantage of Raymarine HybridTouch technology to give a choice of touch screen operation or full keypad control.
For fishos the e7D version features a built-in dual frequency HD Digital sonar capable of depths to 3,000 feet.
Hand held Thermal Night Vision Cameras
Raymarine last night also launched its TH series of handheld thermal cameras designed for boaties. The series includes two models – the TH24 and TH32 – which feature FLIR thermal imaging technology. The handheld cameras offer a compact go-anywhere solution for night vision. Thermal improves your ability to see rocks, buoys, debris and can help locate people in water. Raymarine’s suggested retail for these cameras is somewhere around $2000.
The new e7 and the complete range of Raymarine products can be viewed at stand at the Sydney International Boat Show.
