THE Quantum Q-Lab in Tulsa, USA, has delivered another innovation with the new Quantum Throttle spinning reel. The Throttle features a uni-body construction that delivers a stable platform for the drive gear and shaft in a single rear-accessible compartment. According to the manufacturers, this unique design results in tighter tolerances and an ultra-smooth cranking action.
Featuring a graphite rotor, stainless steel main shaft and a heavy-duty anodized-aluminium bail arm, the Quantum Throttle is said to be remarkably durable. The front-adjustable, multi-disc drag system also packs enough fish-stopping power to subdue tough Aussie fish. The reel is available in three sizes (30, 40 and 50) and all include 11 stainless steel bearings (10+1 clutch), a Continuous Anti-ReverseTM clutch, a braid-ready spool band and a double-anodised MaxCastTM II spool design.
The Quantum Throttle 30 has a line capacity of 150yd/10lb, a gear ratio of 5.2:1 and a maximum drag capacity of 8lb. The Throttle 40 features a line capacity of 230yd/10lb, a gear ratio of 5.3:1 and a maximum drag capacity of 13lb, while the Throttle 50 has a line capacity of 225yd/12lb, a gear ratio of 5.3:1 and a maximum drag of 14lb.
For the complete Quantum package, the Throttle reels combine with the new Quantum Throttle graphite composite rods. The two-piece rod designs allow for easy transportation and storage and all Throttle rods incorporate quality guides and comfortable cork grips.
The Quantum Throttle Combos are available in three practical sizes. The 6’6”, 2-4kg Spin 30 combo is a lightweight outfit ideal for targeting bream, whiting, flathead and smaller freshwater species. The 7’3”, 3-5kg Estuary 40 is a general estuary and freshwater combo suitable for flathead, tailor and perch. The 7′, 5-8kg Saltwater 50 combo is perfect for heavier estuary, impoundment and inshore fishing for snapper, barramundi, Murray cod, Australian salmon and more.
