ALTHOUGH thousands of kilometres apart, Australian anglers and their Japanese counterparts have quite a lot in common, and an appreciation of quality fishing tackle is just one of them. Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) rods are highly regarded in their home country as the pinnacle of design and function, but they perform well on our fish too!
The new Dialuna BS series consists of six two-piece rods (four spin, two baitcast) and, according to the manufacturers, it has quality all the way as far as fittings go. Guides are top-of-the-line Fuji SiCs, and the reel seats are specialised Shimano CI4+ with nicely shaped EVA grips either side.
The blanks these rods are built on use Shimano’s Spiral X and Hi-Power X Graphite construction for lightness, strength, casting accuracy, and then lifting power once hooked up.
Line and lure ratings are suitable for use on dusky flathead, barramundi or Murray cod to name but a few.
