The Australian National Sportfishing Association has released a fish measuring “brag” mat to promote catch & release fishing as well as ANSA All Tackle Length-Only records and awards.
The mats are 120cm long in a durable, striking yellow vinyl with high-contrast black writing and contain the entire list of ANSA eligible species. The trophy length for each species is also included.
Shane Jasprizza, ANSA Business Director said; “Effective 1 July 2008, ANSA introduced an entirely new National Record chart and Master Angler Award based on a “trophy” length fish, rather than the traditional ANSA weight and line-class system. The new measuring mats complement these awards and provide anglers with a handy reference to the trophy lengths for all eligible ANSA species. The mats also carry an environmental message in line with ANSA’s conservation ethos”.
Jasprizza added “There are a range of ‘brag’ mats on the market of varying quality and accuracy. Ours are made by the same company who manufactures mats for NSW Fisheries, so anglers can be assured of a quality product and at a very reasonable price”.
