THE winners of the annual AFTA “best tackle shop” awards were announced at a gala dinner at the Gold Coast this week.
A shortlist of 15 shops from around the country was nominated by Australian anglers.
AFTA CEO Allan Hansard said an overwhelming number of entries were received, with the AFTA website crashing at once stage due to the influx of votes.
“It was fantastic to see how keen anglers were to vote for their favourite tackle shop,” Hansard said.
“These awards are really competitive and a great indication of just how important the retail tackle sector is to our economy, especially in regional areas.”
The winner of the best large tackle shop category was Tackle World Cranbourne in Victoria.
The medium sized tackle shop award was taken out by Jones’s Tackle in Brisbane, Queensland, and the best small tackle shop award was won by Compleat Angler Melbourne.
