Victorian Minister for Fishing and Boating, Jaala Puford, has announced the creation of Better Boating Victoria.

THE Victorian Minister for Fishing and Boating, Jaala Puford, has announced the creation of Better Boating Victoria (BBV), the public-facing part of government tasked with making boating more accessible and cheaper, providing more launching places, and maintaining Victorian boating facilities in line with user expectations.

Legislation will be introduced later this year to create a Better Boating Fund so that $28-30 million of our boating rego and licenses each year can be re-invested back into boating. An Advisory Group will also be established.

According to the Victorian Fisheries Authority, every cent of licensing and registration fees will go back to fixing boat ramps. Launching and parking fees will be removed as soon as possible from as many ramps as possible.

BBV will also oversee the delivery of upgrades and important maintenance at Mordialloc, Queenscliff, Point Richards, Hastings, Rhyll and Cowes jetty and eight new casual berths will be established for public use across Port Phillip.

As part of these initiatives, BBV will review the management of boating infrastructure at Port Phillip and Western Port.
