One of the truly great things about fishing is its unexpected aspect.
A day’s fishing can provide plenty of surprises, none moreso than the one a female angler on the NSW south coast received recently.
As reported on a fishing report on Rob Paxevanos’s Fishing Australia website, while fishing at South Beach Shellharbour using pilchards on ganged hooks, Jennifer Martin hooked what she thought was a good sized Aussie salmon or tailor. What eventually appeared from the surf was a 1.2m long broadbill swordfish weighing four kilograms. What the wayward broadie was doing in such shallow water is anybody’s guess…
Just another example of why so many people love fishing.
