Four rock anglers were last night missing on the NSW Central Coast after the latest rock fishing related tragedy.
Relatives of the missing anglers were bracing for the worst after the body of a woman was pulled from the ocean at Catherine Hill Bay, south of Newcastle.
Authorities called off an aerial and water search for the missing around 9.30pm.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the missing woman and three men are all from Sydney and believed to be of Asian descent and were reported missing in what was described as a “massive swell”.
Police last night said there was a “slim chance” the missing four were still alive.
Officers would only say that the group included a woman, 58, and a man, 56, from North Rocks, a man, 63, and a woman, 61, from Carlingford, and a man, 25, also from Carlingford.
Six people have died while rock fishing in NSW since July, 2009.
