As many as 450 boats from more than 50 exhibitors located across Queensland and beyond will fill 20,000m² of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre as the Brisbane Boat Show opens for 3 days from August 23, 2019. Whether it’s a love of fishing, water skiing, wake boarding or just paddling around Australia’s splendid waterways, organisres say the 2019 Brisbane Boat Show will have something for every water-loving Queenslander.
One of the most unique vessels returns with a debut model at the show this year. The amphibious Sealegs land and watercraft premieres the Sealegs 7.7m Sport D-Tube. Perfect for those who love fishing, the Sport’s open design and centre console allows full walk-around access to the entire craft. The placement of the inboard powerpack on the transom allows for additional under-seat storage beneath the helm seat, and the tall pontoons deliver the expected smooth and secure ride. Not needing a marina or established boat ramp, the Sealegs can literally drive directly into the water from the beach or shore using 3 hydraulically powered wheels attached to the hull, which have no drag once fully retracted. These vessels are already popular with shorefront property owners and waterway regulatory bodies worldwide.
While the show is the best place to see and buy boats, the Boating Industry Association Ltd, who organise the event, also aims to entertain and educate at the show. With a commitment to safe boating, show organisers along with Maritime Safety Queensland have pulled together an excellent line-up of government agencies to ensure visitors have the opportunity to better understand how to maximise their enjoyment on the water. Along with Maritime Safety Queensland, agencies such as SEQ Water, Queensland Boating & Fisheries Patrol, Brisbane Water Police, Australian Volunteer Coast Guard, Queensland Parks and Wildlife, and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority will all be at the show to share information about how they keep our waterways safe and sustainable for the future.
Making a welcome return this year, Bumper Boat rides for the kids are included with entry. Make your way to the purpose-built giant 35 metre pool complete with its own 7-metre-tall lighthouse. Enjoy a break while the kids burn-off some energy having fun paddling around in their self-powered vessel. It’s a much-anticipated activity for the kids to enjoy, while they also undertake the safety habit of wearing a life jacket and building confidence while boating. In between bumper boat rides, on-water demonstrations will feature the latest in stand-up paddleboards, pedalboards and kayaks.
The Show is open each day from 10 am, with adult tickets $15, Children $5 (those under 5 are free), Family $35, Seniors and Pensioners $12. All tickets are $5 after 5 pm (per person, door sales only, excluding family tickets). Up to date details available HERE.
