THE Inland Waterways Rejuvenation Association and OzFish Chapter based in Dubbo held their 9th annual Lake Burrendong Easter Fishing Classic over the Easter weekend. While the attendance of over 1500 anglers, sponsor support and funding raised of over $100 000 are impressive, what is most extraordinary about the event is the time and dedication of the local volunteers that make it all possible.
The local OzFish Chapter of dedicated local anglers contributed over 1500 hours of volunteer time to making the event possible, all in the name of raising funds to improve local fish habitat and fishing. The Classic Committee worked tirelessly in the lead up, during and after the event. The blue and orange Burrendong Fishing Classic shirts could be seen moving endlessly around the competition. There was always a smiling volunteer to take a registration, offer assistance or sell a raffle ticket to benefit local fish habitat, plus so many more unseen actions. In every busy moment that made up the occasion, one thing was clear, they all had a fantastic time making it happen.
