Queensland recreational fishos concerned about further closures in marine zones along the coast are being urged to join a protest convoy early next month.
“Strap on your fishing rods and hook up your trailer boat” is the catchcry of a flyer sent out by convoy organisers who are aiming to voice mass public disapproval at planned marine closures along Queensland’s Fraser Coast, closures that could be put in place under the federal government’s bioregional planning process. If they go ahead a combined area of up up to 13,OOOkm2 could be declared no-go zones.
For those who wish to be involved, the convoy takes place on Sunday August 1, leaving Gympie showgrounds at 8:30 am. Guest speakers will be on hand at the convoy’s final destination. Route details and more available for download HERE.
Attendees are also urged to listen to UHF channel 33 on the day for updates.
