Dartmouth Pondage is now reopen for fishing.

THIS week northeast Victoria welcomed back a trout fishing Mecca! Once more, you can catch big dancing rainbows and fighting browns from the Dartmouth Pondage!

It’s taken a lot of work and a lot of gratitude is due to VRFish and Futurefish Foundation for their efforts.

The re-opening of Dartmouth Pondage has been funded by the Victorian Government which, it says, is aiming to give anglers more fish to catch and more places to catch them.

The re-opening couldn’t have happened without passionate locals and several agencies to manage the water level risks that had previously seen the pondage closed.

When open to fishing previously, the pondage grew trophy trout to 3 kg and often boasted the winning fish in local angling competitions. So this Thursday, the Victorian Fisheries Authority will be celebrating the re-opening by stocking Dartmouth Pondage with 20,000 trout from our Snobs Creek hatchery.

What's your reaction?
