FISHOS around Australia are being urged to make online submissions on a draft marine parks plan for Commonwealth waters in Australia’s south-west.
The marine parks come under the Federal Government’s recently announced draft of the South-West Marine Bioregional Plan.
The WA-based Recreational Lifestyle Alliance (RLA) acknowledges the efforts of Recfishwest and WA’s rec fishing community in ensuring the marine parks plan takes into account rec fishing and its minimal impact on fish stocks and the environment, but stresses the final outcome of WA’s marine parks can have national ramifications. As a result the RLA is urging fishos around the country to lodge submissions.
To streamline the process the RLA has set up an online submission form at http://www.rla.net.au/.
Submissions close on August 8.
