Fish habitat forum next month

The 2010 Fishers for Fish Habitat Forum is on June 4 & 5 and recreational fishers are being encouraged to register now for the two-day Lake Macquarie event.

“Recreational fishers interested in the health of the rivers, creeks and estuaries they love to fish – and the fish they enjoy catching – will be converging on Lake Macquarie over June 4-5,” said Charlotte Jenkins, Conservation Manager with Industry & Investment NSW.

“We are expecting an even bigger turn out than the 2009 event and it will be a very informative and fun two days.

“Rec fishers will have the opportunity to discuss fish habitat with like-minded people, fisheries scientists and staff from the I&I NSW Aquatic Habitat Rehabilitation program.

“We have a jam-packed agenda including a field trip on Friday 4 June to see first hand fish habitat rehabilitation in the lower Hunter.”

On Saturday 5 June special guest speaker and fish conservationist Tom Sadler from the US will provide an insight into recreational fisher involvement in fish habitat rehabilitation in the US and their National Fish Habitat Action Plan.

Friday night’s Forum Dinner is free to all Forum delegates. The Dinner will be hosted by ABC Radio’s The Big Fish program presenter Scott Levi.

To register for this event email: fish.habitat@industry.nsw.gov.au or telephone (02) 6626 1107.
