FORMER UK parliamentary spokesman and recent temporary Australian resident, Martin Salter, certainly left his mark on rec fishing in this country during his 15 month stay.
Salter first became known to local rec fishing groups after lodging a submission to the NSW parliamentary enquiry into rec fishing. This led to his being commissioned by the tackle industry to complete the Keep Australia Fishing report which was presented to government to aid future fishing and fisheries management.
Salter also found plenty of time during his Aussie stay to visit and fish parts of the country many local fishos have only dreamt of. Along the way he penned a few feature articles for Fisho on the fishing he experienced at locations such as Arnhemland in the NT and Lord Howe Island off the NSW coast. He also sampled much of the amazing fishing on offer across the ditch in NZ.
Now he’s back home in the UK, Salter has wasted little time in talking up the highlights of his fishing experiences Down Under, via a feature article in weekly UK fishing publication the Angler’s Mail. Check it out HERE.
In the meantime Martin Salter will be contributing to Fisho as our foreign correspondent and will be providing regular blogs. Read his first instalment HERE.
