AS previously reported by Fishing World, a Sydney-based group had been lobbying the NSW Government for Pittwater, north of the city, to be proclaimed a recreational fishing haven.
At the time, spokesman for the Angler’s Action Group, Andrew Tiede had been asking for public support for the proposal via a petition to be delivered to Primary Industries Minister Katrina Hodgkinson.
The group has been lobbying government to institute a commercial fishing closure on Pittwater – a proposal supported by local MP Robert Stokes and Pittwater Council.
The petition requesting the NSW Government buy out commercial fishing operators within Pittwater has now been formally lodged in NSW Parliament for consideration.
